2023 Spirit of the Vikingā„¢ Scholarship

Dear Pleasant Grove High School Class of 1986 Alumni,

As we look back on our time at PGHS, we are reminded of the amazing opportunities and memories we gained from being a Viking. As proud alumni, for the past five years we have raised money for the Spirit of the Vikingā„¢ scholarship.

The SPIRIT OF THE VIKING SCHOLARSHIP is an annual award given by the PGHS Class of 1986 to one or more students of Pleasant Grove High School who demonstrate and exemplify the qualities of a Viking: Courage, Honor, Discipline, Perseverance, Friendship, Kindness, and Charity.

For 2023 we have a goal to raise $5,000 by May 1st, 2023. We ask for your help in raising these funds.

You can donate online at https://www.pgclassof86.org/donations/

Your contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the life of a deserving student. By donating to the Spirit of the Vikingā„¢, you will help provide access to education and opportunities that may not have been possible otherwise.

Thank you for your continued support and dedication to Pleasant Grove High School.

Spirit of the Vikingā„¢ 2022 Scholarship Fundraising

Alright, alright, alright…

36 years!Ā  It’s been that long if you’re wondering why your back hurts and your joints ache…and the 6th year of our scholarship.Ā  Donations can be made on theĀ  Donations page…

We’ve done a lot of good in the past 6 years.Ā  Many lives were lifted, many hearts were touched, and much good came from your donations

And once again, we have a late start…we have a little more than 8 weeks until May 1st when donations end.Ā  Last year you knocked it out of the park, raising $5,000 for PGHS students.Ā  So this year I upped our goal from $3,000 to $4,000.Ā  We can do it!

So, in the immortal words of Matthew McConaughey, “The best advice comes from people who don’t give advice.”

But if Matthew did give advice, I’m sure he would say “Give Early and Give Often!”

So…Let’s have a Speed Funding blitz and let’s get this party started!

Donations can be made on theĀ  Donations page…

Warm up your payment cards and donate early and often!

Spirit of the Vikingā„¢ Scholarship Fundraiser for 2021…

HOLY FREAKING BATMAN…

It’s been 35 years since we’ve graduated PGHS. And the 5th year we have offered this scholarship.Ā  And like it seems every year, we’re getting a late start.Ā  We have less than 11 weeks until the fundraising deadline of May 1, 2021…

So I propose we have a Speed Funding blitz and let’s get this party started!

Donations can be made on theĀ  Donations page…

Warm up your payment cards and donate early and often!

Spirit of the Vikingā„¢ Scholarship Fundraiser for 2020

Alright everyone, warm up those credit cards…

Another late start to the fundraising effort this year but I’m counting on you guys to come up strong.

Now having said all that…you can still bail me out, bless the poor in spirit, and do good to the needy. All you have to do is donate…like voting, do it early and do it often. We have until May 1st to raise money for the scholarship for 2020. Our target goal is $3,000 again. We can hit it.

You can donate on the donations page. There are preset buttons for donating $25 or $50 as well as the ability to donate a specific amount.

We do have a fancy progress bar…so you can keep track of the fundraising as we go along (and see how short we are from our $3,000 goal). As in all things, listen to your internal Jiminy Cricket and help out where you can.

This is for a great cause. The award winners for the past few years have been fantastic. Awesome. Wonderful. They have gone on to do amazing things. They are great Vikings…Vikings for Life! Let’s do it again this year.

Spirit of the Viking Scholarship 2019

Alright guys…here is the deal. We’re getting a late start on fundraising this year. It’s my fault. I’m to blame.Ā  My bad. I’m sorry. I’m really, really sorry. I apologize unreservedly…

We don’t have a fancy graph or progress bar…blame the fundraising guy. But I will forgo the calculations and filing of my taxes to get one built this week…assuming that you guys come through with some $$$. šŸ˜‰

Spirit of the Viking Scholarship 2018

We are starting a bit late in fundraising for the Spirit of the Viking Scholarship for 2018.

We have a goal to raise $3,000 by May 1st…which gives us just about 2 months.

You can donate on the donation page.

We have a nifty donation graph that will show how we are doing…so donate early and often. šŸ˜‰

Please let everyone know about this by posting on twitter, facebook, or your favorite social media…or break out pen/paper and do it the old-fashioned way!

Thank you again for all your support.

Spirit of the Viking 2017 Scholarship Awarded

Let me start by expressing my gratitude for all of the many contributions that made up the Spirit of the Viking award this year. You all should be commended for your willingness and graciousness. This could not have happened without your generous support.

On Friday, May 12th, 2017, Mark Bronson, Kali Church and I went to PGHS to award the Class of 1986 – Spirit of the Viking 2017 Scholarship. We had a hard time picking from the list of candidates. All of the candidates were fantastic, to quote the great Kali Church: “I feel like there are many things that may rightly represent the true Spirit of the Viking…I think that all of the young ladies represent it in their own ways and I was really impressed with each girl.” [Yes, we only had girls apply…go figure. My view of a Viking’s soul is a tad bit more masculine.]

The recipient of the 2017 Spirit of the Viking Scholarship is Hannah Jones.

Because of some last minute donations, we also chose to award a “Special Recognition” Scholarship to Caralyn Humphrey.

Here you can learn a little more about Caralyn and Hannah.

We were able to surprise both Hannah & Caralyn with the awards and arranged to have their parents there to watch.

Thanks again for all that you guys have done.

Congratulations to Hannah Jones and Caralyn Humphrey!
